A Spooky Halloween Adventure!

A Haunted Hike hosted by The Nature Objective to raise money for Pet World's Rehoming Center!

Looking for a spooky outdoor adventure for kids? We've got you covered! Bring your kiddos and their friends out for a Haunted Halloween Hike hosted by Pet World's sister company, The Nature Objective! 

Participants will be given a secret location pin that's located 20 minutes northwest of downtown Lawrence (half way between Lawrence and Oskaloosa). Your one car load of kids will enjoy a private, outdoor experience getting "lost in the woods" on private property and finding their way back out. Guests can bring small flashlights if they choose and a two way radio will be provided in case you get too lost! There's no cell signal in these woods so you'll need a lot of courage! Experience dead ends on the trail, mazes, ghouls, goblins, along with the best startles and scares the darkness of the woods can provide!

Groups depart on foot every five minutes to maintain plenty of space and it should probably take about 45 minutes to make it back to your car, unless you run or get really lost! The trail is 1.5 miles long. Each group must have at least one parent/guardian of one child in the group present at all times but there is a max of no more than two people over age 9 in any group. All groups must stay together for the entire event.

 RED GROUP 
The Red level is for first time attendees and kids ages 5-6 at the time of event.
2024 start times available before sunset from 5:30-6:30. More daylight and less jump scares. 

 YELLOW GROUP 
The Yellow level is for first or second time attendees and kids ages 7-9 at the time of event.
2024 start times available after sunset from 6:30-7:30. Less daylight and more jump scares!

Available in 2025. 
The Green level is for older and/or repeat attendees and kids ages 8-9.
The Green level will be offered in 2025.

 BLUE GROUP  Coming Soon!
Available in 2025. 
The Blue level will be for older, repeat attendees who are 10 and attending their final year.
The Blue level will be offered in 2025.

This event requires advance, paid registration and walk ups are not allowed. The Haunted Hike is for kids and their same age friends with one or two chaperones. No more than two people over age 9 per group and only one vehicle per group. Each time slot only has one parking space available. Parking pass will be sent via text to be shown at the gate and participants will be given custom admission bracelets on site. If a child is older than 6 at the time of the event they can register to attend with younger kids in the Red Group but younger kids cannot register to attend in an older group.

Rain or shine, warm or cold, with steep hills, so dress appropriately! Not for the weak or faint of heart!

This hike is hosted by Pet World's sister company, The Nature Objective, to raise funds for Pet World's animal rescue and rehoming services. All invoices will come from T.N.O. and will reflect on your card statement as "The Nature Objective."

This private nature preserve is never open to the public and visitors are only allowed when scheduled in advance in order to avoid trespassing. All visits require reservations and visitors must agree to the rules of the property, including the NDA regarding the private location (for the safety of the animals, children, property owners, and visitors) and the Hold Harmless waiver. Geo-tagged photos showing location are never allowed.

Groups will always start at least a five minute walk after the previous group but it's possible one group might catch up or pass another. You will experience live character actors, dark shadows, startle scares where things jump out by surprise, loud noises, scary music and sound effects, frightening props, fog, and trippy black lighting, possibly including strobe lights. Participants must drive themselves to the property, and provide their own food, beverages, insect repellent, etc. if needed. Please stay in or near your vehicle until your group is beckoned. Vendors may be on site offering snacks and refreshment for a small donation or fee. Cash or card will be welcome.
